If so, the Marketing Manager position at Visit SLO CAL presents an exciting opportunity for you. In collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Chief Marketing Officer, this position will work to bring Visit SLO CAL’s marketing efforts to life. Initiatives under this role include optimization of our website, social media marketing, graphic design and other related programs. As the Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for oversight of our owned channels, elevating them above our competitive set, and ensuring brand standards are adhered to in all organizational efforts. In addition, the Marketing Manager is responsible for ensuring we have accurate reporting and CRM management.

Core Responsibilities:
People Management
- Responsible for the oversight of 3 full time employees.
- Effectively manage employee’s growth and continuous learning objectives.
- Handle all the administrative tasks associated with direct reports.
- Manage expectations up the value chain to ensure CMO/CEO are appraised as necessary.
Project Management
You will assist the team and our agencies on:
- Development, maintenance, and performance of the destination website(s), blog and visual marketing platform
- Continuous improvement of the website’s SEO, usability, design, and conversions
- Support the execution and optimization of paid digital media programs
- Performance and optimization of email marketing and social media programs
Content Management
- Assist in the production and distribution of content, including written content (stories, posts, blogs etc.), visual and video asset development, etc.
- Publish content and execute promotions using the Create Once Deliver Everywhere (CODE) method through multiple channels: website, blog, social media, email marketing, etc.
- Develop, publish and/or maintain website-related CRM content, including the event calendar, activity listings, and extranet information for partners; Approve changes to website listings
- Communicate with agencies and content/asset production contractors as necessary to execute against the plan
- Assist in the execution of consumer and trade event marketing activations, including coordinating partners, contributing to booth design, promoting consumer engagement, etc.
Operational Duties
- Effectively partner across marketing team to help drive all media results (Earned, Owned and Paid)
- Plan and manage marketing strategies to drive online awareness that adds value to the brand
- Identify opportunities in digital landscape, including video and social media
- Work with agency partners to optimize integrated paid and organic search strategies
- Own digital audience strategy, regularly leveraging data and insights to test and refine creative, channels and marketing campaigns to resonate with audiences
- Manage priorities consistent with Strategic Direction 2026
- Meet or exceed Marketing goals with a specific focus on established KPIs
- Comply with organizational values, policies and procedures
- Assist the leadership team with the implementation of new projects and facilitate additional responsibilities, as requested
- Travel willingly for marketing events, professional development and/or agency collaboration (approximately 1-2 trips/year totaling 3-5 days)
Required Skills/Experience:
- 5-7 years professional experience in digital & content marketing (ideally in the tourism or hospitality industry)
- 2 -3 years of experience in managing staff and other outside agencies
- Strong analytical thinking and drive with knowledge of website analytics tools and optimization (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Insights)
- Knowledge of marketing concepts, digital systems and best practices, including the trends in digital marketing and measurement and Customer Relationship Management systems
- Knowledge of and experience with digital marketing channels, including CMS, social media and email marketing, including analytics and optimization
- Providing consistent reporting on marketing channel performance with actionable insights
- Identifying new test and learn opportunities to drive growth
- Staying current on digital marketing industry trends and competitive activity
- Working knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator, and in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to develop and communicate advertising plans with agency resources
- Experience with video editing and graphic design, including infographic development, is helpful
