Job description
Walnut Hill School for the Arts seeks a Mathematics Tutor to join the Learning Support team to assist students in finding success in the School's math curriculum for the second semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. This is a non-exempt hourly position during the School year.
Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week based on student need. Schedule and hours vary based on student schedules and the School calendar with evening and weekend hours available.
Rate: $70/hour
Student Support Responsibilities:
- Meet with students individually or in small groups to assist them in finding success in our math curriculum;
- Content area required: Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics;
- Additional content a plus: Algebra, Algebra 2, Geometry; and
- Collaborate with our math faculty to ensure continuity of teaching methods and strategies.
Skills & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field required;
- Standardized Testing Certification/Training (SAT/ACT) preferred;
- Strong knowledge of subject matter and math courses listed above; ability and willingness to continue to learn and grow;
- Possess excellent communication skills and ability to work with a wide range of people;
- Ability to work independently and effectively; possess strong collaboration and team-oriented skills;
- Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community, and learning about and practicing anti-racist work;
- Ability to speak authentically about the imperative for diversity, equity, and inclusion in schools;
- Possess and exude a positive attitude and a passion for teaching and learning; and
- COVID-19 vaccination and booster or valid exemption required.
