About Cloverbank Country Club
Cloverbank Country Club is a private country club in Hamburg, NY, 15 minutes from downtown Buffalo. The course was designed by Gordon and Gordon and built in 1959-60 as Bethlehem Management Club as a course that would not only serve the managers of Bethlehem Steel but also be capable of challenging tour-level players. After its first ownership changes, the club hosted the 1990 Ben Hogan Open and in 1995 and 1996 Nike Buffalo Open. Currently, the club is privately owned with Kemper Sports Management in charge of daily operations.

A day in the life
Under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, you will be repairing all equipment associated with course maintenance department. Responsibilities also include planning and implementing a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment, training staff in safe use and proper care and maintenance of assigned equipment, you will also advise the Superintendent regarding major equipment failures and/or replacement needs. The Golf Course Maintenance Shop is fully heated and equipped with tools required for the job including a Rotary lift and automatic Foley reel and bed knife grinders.
Other responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Capable of organizing and performing routine maintenance on all equipment
  • Diagnose issues with equipment and find cost-effective solutions
  • Assist with machine operation on an as-needed basis
  • Work a flexible schedule based on equipment needs during the golf season
  • Inspect equipment for operating deficiencies. Repair and adjust equipment as needed.
  • Lubricate and service all course maintenance equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain service, repair, and usage records on all equipment.
  • Establish safety procedures and maintain safety records for equipment operation.
  • Demonstrate to staff the use of new equipment and train in safe operation and proper care and maintenance of assigned equipment.
  • Plan and implement a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment.
  • Advise the Superintendent regarding major equipment failures and/or replacement needs.

Ideal candidate

  • High school, college degree, required or preferred.
  • 1 – 3 years with golf course equipment repair or auto repair.
  • Valid driver’s license. Driving record meeting Company safety policies and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to repair golf course equipment.
  • Prior experience on a golf course is preferred
  • Welding and fabrication experience would be helpful
  • Demonstrated quality verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
  • Positive attitude, professional manner, and appearance in all situations.
