Cape Charles Yacht Center is currently seeking a mechanic/systems technician.
Mechanic should be able to perform routine engine maintenance of inboard or inboard-outboard diesel engines. The ideal candidate will have experience working on marine engines or in a marine environment, but mechanics from various sectors will be considered. Mechanic should be able to monitor performance for signs of malfunctioning, diagnose issues, and replace parts. Mechanic will inspect and repair or adjust propellers or shafts. S/he must have basic working knowledge of plumbing including blackwater and graywater systems and generators. Knowledge of refrigeration, hydraulics, and watermakers is a plus. Mechanic will be able to assess project needs, submit parts and materials requests, prepare estimates for project labor and materials, erect scaffolding or staging, and maintain a clean work area and equipment. S/he will work well as a team member, communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors, and follow regulatory guidelines and safety standards.
