Position Overview:
The Novelis Berea team is seeking a Mechanical Engineer. The person in this role will work with the Engineering and Reliability Leader. The ideal candidate will coordinate and leading mechanical engineering projects and track costs, schedules and work completion for each of the tasks associated. They will also lead all refractory repairs, rebuilds, emergency repair work, modifications and design changes associated with the melters, holders, troughing and ABFs. This position will improve equipment and process reliability to minimize unplanned downtime and standardize how work is performed.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:

- Develop and Implement programs that will improve the reliability of the equipment and efficiency of all coordinated plant processes.
- Work with members of the plant to improve and detail engineering drawings, equipment documentation, production procedures, etc., throughout the plant
- Participate, as a resource, in continuous improvement events, green belt & black belt projects, process studies, production implementations & Management of Change (MOC) events when needed, or as the project lead
- Evaluate, select and lead contract work associated with Mechanical Projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 2 years of Engineering Experience in an industrial setting
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel & Power Point
- Solving and Root Cause Analysis Training
- Good mechanical abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Vibration Analysis
- Certification in Oil Analysis
- Certification in IR Thermography
- Certification in Ultrasonics
- One year of AutoCAD experience
- Proficient modeling experience

Novelis’ Berea facility is located in Berea Kentucky near Lexington. With 140 employees the recycling facility processes approximately 20 percent of all aluminum cans recycled in the United States each year – more than 750 million pounds.
