Schedule: Full Time, Days - Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm, no weekends or holidays
Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant is responsible for and demonstrates necessary skills for performing a variety of administrative and patient-related duties to ensure the quality care to patients. The Medical Assistant does occupational health screenings for GVH employees and outside businesses.Essential Functions of the Medical Assistant:
- Responsible for taking accurate vital signs, which include, but are not limited to, temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressures and weight, and ensuring that adolescent, adult and geriatric patient history sheets are completed.
- Responsible for performing tests, such as vision tests and drug and alcohol testing, and must set up any other tests requested by the physician or mid-level practitioner.
- Gives injections and performs venipuncture.
- Responsible for setting up rooms for physical and paper exams.
- Responsible for assisting physician and mid-level practitioner during examinations and any other patient-related duties.
- Assists with maintenance of the supply closet required. Responsible for keeping accurate, up-to-date record of drug supplies on hand.
- Screens and redirects telephone calls and walk-in visitors.
- Assists in the collection for clinical data for performance improvement purposes.
- Organizes, maintains and updates files/databases.
- Coordinates scheduling of appointments.
- Assist with check-in, registration and discharge process.
- Responsible for other miscellaneous duties which may include, but are not limited to, stocking exam rooms, cleaning exam rooms, emptying trash cans, checking to see if the supply closets are clean and in order, putting supplies away, collecting laundry and ensuring that all work areas are in order on a daily basis.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:- High school diploma/GED and experience as a Medical Assistant or other healthcare professional meeting core competencies of the Medical Assistant profession (vital signs, history and medication reconciliation).
