The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a 80-100% Medical Assistant II to work at our Scott Blvd Family Medicine Clinic. University of Iowa Health Care's primary care clinic in Riverside provides a convenient location for family-oriented care. Appointments are available to people of all ages and include services for routine examinations, immunizations, follow-up care, and diagnosing routine medical problems, as well as pregnancy care. The on-site pharmacy provides you with a one-stop visit.

Duties to include:

  • Staff will support our Family Medicine Clinic patients.
  • Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
  • Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
  • Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.

Percent of Time: 80-100% (32-40 hours per week)

Schedule: Monday - Friday; Variable hours accomplished between 7:30 AM – 8:00 PM; standard hours will be 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with one evening each month providing coverage until 8:00 PM. No weekends and no holidays.

Salary: $35,984.00-$53539.20 / Hourly: $17.30 - $25.74 (based on years of experience)

Qualifications - External

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.

Special Qualifications

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program accredited by ABHES or CAAHEP, graduation from a college with institutional accreditation by regional or national accrediting agency approved by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Medical Terminology
  • Public Contact/Customer Service

Desirable Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant is preferred
  • Previous Family Medicine Clinic experience is preferred
  • Previous experience in a team-orientated environment is preferred
  • Phlebotomy experience is preferred
  • Previous experience with computer skills and ability to navigate EMR – Epic, Word, etc.
