Job Summary:
In accordance with the mission of Peripheral Vascular Associates, P.A., the Medical Assistant (hereinafter referred to as “MA”), under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor, will support the clinical practice in the delivery of quality patient care on a daily basis. The MA will function with standards of care within the Organization’s policies and guidelines. They will ensure that patients are greeted and ready to be seen in a professional and efficient manner; confirm demographic information; collect payments and schedule return appointments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare clinical documents for provider review, prepping charts, obtaining medical records, communicating with other providers offices and medical staff to coordinate patient care.
- Documentation of patient occurrences, diagnostic testing, wound care, education in current conditions, patient inquiries, phone calls, communication with pharmacy regarding prescriptions and refills.
- Arrange and/or assist with coordination of patient care with other facilities and home Health agencies, communicate effectively and accurately treatment plans, diagnostic testing, and referrals.
- Take patients’ vital signs, record medical histories, assist in removal of bandages, debridement of wounds, obtaining lab samples for cultures, assist with biopsies, education on wound care, placement of wound vacs.
- Review recent procedures/surgeries and ensure patient follow-up, as directed.
- Submit orders for testing and retrieving results as needed.
- Autoclaving instruments.
- Prepare/maintain exam rooms.
- Prepare and assist with office procedures, order supplies, and materials needed for procedures.
- Assist and/or obtain AUTH’s for specific wound care procedures and coordinate with coding to ensure criteria is met for Insurance coverage.
- Communicate concerns/ideas regarding patient care.
- Act as a patient and physician liaison.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bilingual required.
- Reliable transportation, travel might be required.
- Administrative duties as required.
- Preferred experience as a Medical Assistant with at least 2 years of experience, graduates from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of commonly used medications, medical procedures/surgeries for this patient population.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Knowledge of electronic medical record systems, preferably Allscripts.
- CPR/ BLS current and able to maintain during their employment.
- Able to follow policies and procedures.
- Always maintain a professional attitude to ensure excellence in patient care.
The clinic is open Monday – Friday. Hours are to be determined by Manager
