The medical director goal is to ensure all clinical programs are safe and appropriate to the clients specific issues, drug of choice, and medical history. The medical director will direct and coordinate medical services and care with other areas of the organization while making reasonable accommodations to ensure clients are safe and comfortable as possible during their stay.

Requirements

In order to be considered for the Medical Director position, you will need:

  • Current Licensed Psychiatrist with a valid unencumbered license to practice Psychiatry in the State of Florida in good standing
  • A minimum of one year experience in behavioral health treatment, experience with adolescent treatment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete history, psychiatric and/or physical examination to each new client within timelines stipulated in the facility policy and procedure manual and in accordance with licensing standards.
  • Responsible for assuring that arrangements are made for follow-up services that reflect the findings or risk factors discovered during medical assessments.
  • Ensure that clients are referred to specialists when the medical needs of a client cannot be met by the providers of the addiction treatment center.
  • Supervise treatment services that include programs, services, functions, and resources necessary to meet the treatment requirements all clients.
  • Administrative oversight of the agency medical and pharmacological treatment.
  • Monitor and ensure the provision of all prescribed drugs and medically necessary pharmaceutical services. Physician shall ensure pharmaceutical services and prescription drugs are in accordance with all Federal and State laws and regulations including, but not limited to the State Board of Pharmacy Laws and Regulations and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
  • Ensure that drug utilization reviews are appropriately conducted and documented as outlined in the policy and procedure manual and to specifically indicate the use/do not use abbreviations list and look alike/sound alike medications.
  • Implement and maintain policies and procedures to ensure the Clients' right to confidentiality of medical information.
  • Ensure that client's rights and responsibilities are communicated these to agency clients and providers.
  • Maintain procedures for monitoring the coordination of care provided to clients, including but not limited to all medically necessary services delivered both within and outside the addiction treatment agency.
  • Providing administrative oversight of the facility's medical services;
  • Assisting the administrator of the facility in the development and maintenance of written objectives, policies, a procedure manual, an organization plan and a quality assurance program for medical services, and review of all medical policies and procedures at least annually.
  • In conjunction with the administrator and the governing authority of the substance use disorders treatment facility, planning and budgeting for medical services;
  • Ensuring that medical services are coordinated and integrated with other client care services to ensure continuity of care for each client;
  • Ensuring that the facility complies with required medical staffing patterns set forth in facility policy;
  • Approving the content and location of emergency kits or carts; medications, including controlled substances; use of over-the-counter floor stock medications maintained on a list at the facility; and the amounts that may be and are stored throughout the facility, equipment and supplies, the expiration dates of medically related time-sensitive items, the frequency with which these items are reviewed for appropriateness and completeness and assigning qualified staff to perform these reviews;
  • Reviewing any physical examination reports and medical screening results conducted off-site of a client for the pre-admission process or for other medical concerns, in order to ensure that the client's medical needs are considered and addressed in the development of the treatment plan and throughout treatment; and
  • Providing supervision of the facility's physician(s).

Pay: $480 - $720 Hourly

Schedule: Part-time, approx. 4 hours in office weekly and on call.
