Job Profile Summary: Responsible for direct patient care by reviewing patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families. Evaluate, diagnose, provide consultation and make recommendations for patients with developmental or acquired physical or neurological impairment including the design and monitoring of rehabilitative programs.
Job Description:


Principle Responsibilities

  • Direct Patient Care.
    • Evaluates, diagnoses, provides consultation and makes recommendations for patients with developmental or acquired physical or neurological impairment including the design and monitoring of rehabilitative programs.
    • For diagnosis and evaluation, it may include the techniques of electromyography to supplement the standard history and physical, X-ray and laboratory examinations.
    • Uses expertise in the appropriate use of therapeutic exercise, prosthetics (artificial limbs), orthotics and mechanical and electrical devices.
    • Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
    • Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.
    • Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
    • Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.
    • Practices in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.
    • Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.
    • Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management.
    • Will provide care in an ambulatory clinic, inpatient or outpatient hospital setting.
    • Will participate in on-call rotation.


    Quality.


    • Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or work flows.
    • May participate in peer review and quality assurance.
    • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine required and
  • Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited Physical Medicine and Rehab residency required
  • Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required and must be board certified or be eligible for board certification within Physical Medicine and Rehab upon hire and
  • BLS required
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate upon hire required and
  • Prescription Monitoring Program upon hire required and
  • National Provider Identifier upon hire required

Additional Job Description:

This role will serve on the St. Paul United Hospital team with opportunity to practice in an inpatient and outpatient setting. They will also take part in call coverage on nights and weekends per the current rotation.

This role will be a practicing physician and Medical Director for the United PM&R Physician Team: 0.9FTE focused on clinical practice / patient care and 0.1 FTE administrative focus.
