Job description
Seeking physicians for the UBA WeCARE program. WeCARE provides a continuum of services to help HRA referred cash assistance clients with medical and/or mental health conditions that affect their employability to attain their maximum levels of self-sufficiency. Individuals referred to WeCARE receive medical and psychosocial assessments to identify possible clinical conditions and social barriers that may affect their ability to participate in work-related activities. Based on the results of the assessments, a determination of an individual's functional capacity outcome (FCO) is completed and a customized service plan is developed to provide a range of services tailored to meet a client's particular needs.
The Review Physician responsibilities:
- Conduct medical reviews of Clinical Assessments completed by Qualified Health Professionals including reviewing all medical documentation related to disability/employability of adults. This involves supervising any necessary medical evaluations, acting as a back-up to perform physical exams, reviewing specialty medical and psychological evaluations.
- Order medical/physical and psychological evaluations
- Retrieve medical documentation from electronic medical record systems such as EPIC
- Formulate and provide written justifications of FCOs. This includes evaluating the need for work limitations and reasonable accommodations
- Providing a functional capacity outcome with respect to a client’s employability, of Wellness Plans completed by Case Managers.
- Acting as a resource to clinical, non-clinical, and care management support staff
- Provide clinical oversight and support for SSA disability applications
- Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, rehabilitation counselors, and substance use counselors
- Interfaces with outside partners: NYC Human Resources Administration and vocational sub-contractor, regarding medical components of the WeCARE program
 Degrees: Current, unrestricted NYS Medical License and American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association Certification
 Types of practitioners:
Board certified (preferred) or board eligible physician specialties: Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Two years of experience with disability evaluations preferred
