Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose

Responsible for coordination and oversight of Medical Staff Services at SJMS. Has a clear working knowledge and ensures the organization and Organized Medical Staff are in compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and policies and procedures. Responsible for appointment of Medical Staff Officers and leadership contracts. Manages committee/department meetings by notifying members, preparing material, attendance, record minutes, and actions/recommendations to Medical Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Responsible for the credentials program at SJMS for physicians and Allied Health Professionals in compliance with regulatory standards. Responsible for assisting with the peer review program to include, but not limited to, Ongoing Professional Evaluation (OPPE), Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) Initial Professional Practice Evaluation (IPPE), assist with running practitioner level reports. Develop onboarding/orientation for all providers. Assist with maintaining the integrity of computer based provider information systems. Advises the Market Director of any problems/issues and serves as a resource. Systematically evaluates work processes and applies skills to continuously improve work flow, participate in conception, development and implementation of new programs that will assist in hospital maintenance of efficiency and accuracy of physician/ahp information, ability to work with minimal supervision, adjust hours of work as appropriate to meet the needs of the department. Assist Market Director and Hospital President with other duties as assigned.

Formal education preferred in business or health related field.


Required Licensure and Certifications


Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) desired

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


Possess critical thinking skills to resolve complex issues that may outstretch to other facilities and markets. Excellent communication skills are required in working with the providers, practice staff, internal teams, and leadership as the point of contact for the facility. Ability to work independently, dealing effectively with a variety of tasks, exercising good professional judgment, integrity and tact. Organizational skills with the ability to perform diverse responsibilities within time constraints and maintain confidentiality. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Website applications. Must be willing to adjust work schedule as appropriate to meet the needs of the department.


PREFERRED Qualifications


Previous experience in medical staff services department desired.
