The Medical Technologist performs various laboratory tests to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.The incumbent receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis and applies techniques used in fields of bacteriology, parasitology, hematology, serology, blood banking, urinalysis, chemical and morphological examinations.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology; required education and training culminating in certification by a National Agency or military laboratory certificate of training representing 52 weeks or greater of training; or qualify as testing personnel under CLIA 88

Licensure:

Certification by ASCP, ASMT, AMT or HEW(HHS) with current registration - Required
