Peabody Essex Museum, one of the largest and most dynamic art museum in the nation, is seeking a full-time Membership and Annual Fund Manager within the Development Department. Reporting to the Director of Membership Experience, the Membership and Annual Fund Manager oversees the communication, structure, and administration of the Membership and Annual Fund Program, securing $1.25m+ in unrestricted revenue in support of PEM’s mission. The position will develop and facilitate the solicitation and renewal cycle for 10,000 membership and annual fund households, ensuring the highest level of member and donor satisfaction, identifying upgrade opportunities, cultivating entry level philanthropic support, and improving retention in all programs. The Membership and Annual Fund Officer will also oversee the work of the Membership Coordinator.
Responsibilities include: Meet stated membership and annual fund goals, created in collaboration with the Director of Membership Experience, Development and Finance; Facilitate Member and Annual Fund solicitation and renewal communications cycles, meeting or exceeding acquisition and retention metrics; Draft and send twice a month member e-communications including the GenPEM program and Identify and develop membership innovations regarding levels, benefits and best practices; Work closely with Individual Giving Officer on new and upgraded gifts from individuals; work with Director of Event on GenPEM events and programs; oversee online membership and Annual Fun marketing and transaction webpages.
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five year working in membership and development or the equivalent combination of education and experience. A deep understanding of membership programs and cultural institutions and programmatic best practices is preferred as well as demonstrated ability to meet target metrics. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a plus as well as being familiar with the Tessitura database and intermediate experience with Excel. Good judgment and ability to be discreet and handle confidential information is also necessary while exhibiting proven problem-solving and planning capabilities. Occasional evenings and/or weekend hours are required.
