We're looking for a Mental Health Coordinator to join our team to provide comprehensive services to juvenile residents, working toward the common goal of eliminating child and youth outcome disparities based on race and ethnicity. The Opportunity:
As a leader at Green Hill School, you will direct, manage, and provide consultation to the intake and assessment process on campus. This includes direct supervision of the youth being assessed, regular communication and planning with campus leadership and managers, contracted providers, external agencies including Parole, Social Security Administration, community mental health providers, and others providing services to youth. Additionally, you will administer mental health screenings as deemed appropriate by the JR Clinical Director and local administration.

Some of what you'll do:
  • Manage intake assessments, psychiatric services schedule, and mental health referrals.
  • Ensure all youth are assessed appropriately upon intake and that the assessments meet the standards set forth by the Clinical Director.
  • Function as a member of a professional multi-disciplinary treatment team.
  • Network and communicate effectively with a variety of groups, organizations, and agencies, including other treatment and juvenile justice professionals and schools.
  • Support transition and reentry for youth in the Mental Health Population through coordinating services with the RSN service in the communities.
  • Facilitate the education of staff about the importance of Mental Health services and the alignment of the Integrated Treatment Model, Rehabilitation Administration’s Strategic Plan, and the Administration’s Mission.
  • Model professional standards of conduct and enforce state standards for ethics and use of state resources.
  • Train staff on Suicide Self-harm Prevention and Intervention.

What we're looking for:
A Bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in casework, counseling, probation or parole, social services, planning, directing, supervising, and/or facilitating youth group activities or experience in a related field.
OR
A Master's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Social Sciences, or in an allied field will substitute for one year of required experience.
OR
An equivalent combination of education/experience totaling six years.

In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:
  • Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development and juvenile rehabilitation practices and principles; experience providing cognitive behavioral therapeutic interventions.
  • Demonstrated competency in working with clients from diverse backgrounds and cultural groups.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends, and influences related to juvenile delinquency.
  • Be able to use verbal de-escalation and physical control techniques approved for intervention with verbally and/or physically aggressive youth.
  • Previous demonstrated ability to communicate and comprehend clearly (orally and in writing) with management, peers, clients and the public.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments in order to complete them effectively in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team while exercising good judgment and promoting working relationships with youth, families, contractors, staff, and external stakeholders.
