Seaside Health System is seeking FULL-TIME and PRN Mental Health Technicians in our Baton Rouge Inpatient Hospital. Self-motivated candidates who values excellence, integrity and treating patients and colleagues with dignity and respect.
***Day Shift 6:45 am to 7:15 pm
***Night Shift 6:45 pm to 7:15 am

Responsibilities may include:
  • Compassionate, warm and patient focused.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Assists in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
  • Consistently monitor patients in the facility..
  • Documents significant occurrences, observed behaviors, vital signs, weight, and observation findings.
  • Performs clerical duties related to support of unit activities as assigned.
  • Assist with admission of patients, obtaining weights, vital signs, logging in patient belongings and specimen collection.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living as required by level of function.
  • Report any concerns with intake or output to the nurse.
  • Provides customer service in an ethical manner, treats all patients with dignity, respect, courtesy and compassion.
  • Works cooperatively with team members to reach patient care goals.
Requirements:
  • One year or more work experience behavioral health/psych is preferred.
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent is needed.
  • Computer skills are a preferred.
  • Active listening skills and empathy for patients.
  • Mature, professional, and positive attitude.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Emotional Intelligence including the ability to manage stress and anxiety, knows when to ask for help and how to be a reliable colleague.
  • Critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
