The Merchandise Planning Analyst works collaboratively with the company planning, finance and operations teams to effectively plan and execute the seasonal line planning strategy and buys. This position supports merchandise planning and inventory management through sales and inventory analysis, system maintenance and administrative and reporting needs. The Merchandise Planning Analyst will work to develop and utilize daily/weekly/monthly reporting for analysis and distribution to support inventory purchase and flow decisions. Working with the Planners, Line Review Director and Merchant, the Merchandise Planning Analyst will work to maximize sales, gross margin and inventory productivity.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Regularly report on Seasonal & Essential inventory levels versus plan for all channels and create exception reporting
  • Manage buy meetings - prepare all files and scheduling of seasonal buys, own buy calendar and communications on deadlines
  • Manage product allocation across multiple inventory designations; communicate any inventory concerns with Planning Team
  • Create seasonal off price offering sheets based on customer cadence and requirements
  • Propose updated reclassifications where needed to improve reporting accuracy
  • Maintain data governance and data integrity through management of inventory season codes to ensure inventory is being valued appropriately
  • Identify excess inventory items for monthly style features, social and e-commerce feature opportunities
  • Monitor oversold quantities to determine if redistribution, additional production or order maintenance is needed for higher fulfillment rates
  • Monitor and analyze orders against allocation process to keep consistent flow of product
  • Troubleshoot problems and identify any additional opportunities to improve selling and reporting tools
  • Support Planners, Site Ops & Production department to ensure purchase orders and bulk reserve orders are sized appropriately and roll up to the overall open-to-buy plan
  • Update Seasonal & Essential size scales prior to each season based on historical sales data
  • Create seasonal style master files and maintain updated lists for new adds or drops
  • Track carry forward vs. markdown lists for each season; work with warehouse and production teams for re-ticketing order processing. Maintain a re-ticketing calendar to hit target seasonal dates for improved availability visibility.
  • Participant in new systems and technology solutions
  • Identify and implement ongoing systems and reporting enhancements

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BA or BS in Business/Finance/Data Science or related field
  • Experience with BI tools – Microstrategies, Tableau, Domo, Power BI
  • Experience in the apparel or footwear retail industry is a plus
