We are hiring a Full Time
Meter Reader I or II, working out of our Sun City, AZ office.
The individual performs work of routine difficulty involving the reading of water meters, recording water usage, installing new meters, maintaining and replacement of damaged or inoperable water meters.
What you’d be responsible for
Read water meters on an assigned route. Records water usage in an electronic meter reading device. Inspects meters for proper operations, reports damage or malfunctions, makes minor repairs and replaces meters as required.
Assist utility workers with the repair of water distribution systems. Assists field customer service representatives as needed. Occasionally assists in the training of new meter readers. Performs other work as required.
What’s required to be successful
High school diploma or equivalent. Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license with a good driving record.
Prior meter reading experience preferred.
Meter Reader II must have ADEQ Grade 1 Water Distribution certification.
Ability to interact courteously with the public. Ability to work with tools and equipment required. Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to perform heavy manual labor in varying climatic conditions. This position requires an employee to be at work every day and on time; work safely and perform work in a positive and harmonious manner with the public and fellow employees, project a positive image in dress and demeanor to the public.
Ability to write legibly and make simple mathematical calculations accurately. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Other important facts about this job
There are periods of continuous stooping, bending, walking, shoveling and sweeping. May be exposed to insects, animals, reptiles, dust, pollen, chemicals, water and sewage. Must be able to tolerate extreme heat.
