Metrology Technician I in GAC Savannah


Unique Skills:

Experience with Metrolog X4 / X4V5 metrology software preferred but not required. Other 3D mdetrology software such as Spatial Analyzer (SA), Verisurf, CMM software, etc. will be very helpful as well.


Education and Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. 2 years Laser Tracker, Laser Radar or CMM experience or equivalent metrology certification required. 1 year basic 3D CAD/CATIA experience preferred. 1 year tool fabrication, jig building, or machine shop experience preferred. Must be proficient in reading and interpreting aircraft & tooling designs. Must possess strong computer and shop math skills. Valid Driver’s License required.

Position Purpose:

Performs technical work related to the gathering of highly accurate 3 dimensional data used to set up aircraft tooling and perform measurement studies on in-process or completed aircraft.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  • Perform periodic inspections to ensure compliance per FAA requirements and approved quality procedures. .

  • Conduct measurement studies on in-process or completed aircraft based on planned schedules or un-planned demand. .

  • Coordinate with operations to schedule inspections that will have minimal impact on aircraft production.

  • Utilize Metrologic model based inspection processes within CATIA V5 to gather 3D inspection data. .

  • Set up and utilize precision measuring tools; validates measurement results for accuracy and repeatability.

  • Ensure proper use and storage of tools, equipment and supplies. Advise management of any associated problems or other requirements.

Additional Functions:
  • Actively works to improve daily processes, and ensures all work meets customer requirements. .

Perform other duties as assigned.
