**High school special education teaching position, 9-12 grades + transition

*Job Summary:
**Middle Park High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate special education teacher to join our team.

*
*Responsibilities:
**
**Adapt and/or modify activities/curriculums to engage and teach each student despite their challenges (physical, academic, emotional).
**
**

Serve on a school team: work with administration, therapists, and the classroom staff to facilitate a school program that allows students to meet IEP goals and developmental milestones.
**
**Facilitate the development of self-regulation, the ability to sustain engagement, positive attitudes and a sense of self, healthy social relationships, increasing levels of independence, and emotional well-being within each student.
**
**Help to lead the paraprofessionals to facilitate a classroom team in a collaborative, respectful manner that supports the learning and professional goals of each staff member
**
**Maintain positive relationships with all parents, care providers, students, other staff members, administrative staff, and community members.
**
**Teach high school students the necessary skills that will provide a solid foundation for an active, positive, healthy, and independent adulthood. This includes promoting the development of positive behaviors/self-regulation, functional academic skills, life skills, and social skills
**
**

Write, develop, edit and implement IEPs, complete and edit Progress Reports, develop and/or complete assessments and other documents as assigned. Coordinate with Special Service Providers to ensure all parts of documents are complete. All completed IEP documents must be turned into the SPED Director for review, feedback, and additional edits before finalizing.
**
**Develop effective classroom management and organizational systems when needed and ensure maintenance of these systems
**
**Ensure progress monitoring is regularly completed on student IEP goals.
**
**Participate in school initiatives and campus events

Qualifications:
**Appropriate Colorado teaching license with a special education endorsement. Effective communication and interpersonal skills as well as effective time management and organizational skills are necessary. We are seeking a teacher who would be willing to continue to grow and expand our Advanced Placement and/or Dual Enrollment program.

*Working Environment:
**Middle Park High School is located in Granby, Colorado, 90 miles NW of Denver and 20 miles from the Winter Park Ski area. School is in session Monday-Thursday from 8:00-4:15.
