Full-Time In-Person Position with Benefits (40 hours a week)

The new Middle School Program Manager will supervise two Site Coordinators who each manage part-time group leaders and facilitators and volunteers and interns at 2 middle school afterschool and summer program sites.

LEAP’s middle school programs aim to create a safe, welcoming space afterschool for middle school students to participate in offerings that are fun, engaging, project-based and have an academic and creative focus. The programming seeks to enhance students’ academic, social-emotional, and career readiness skills. The MS Manager will be responsible for getting staff, instructional resources for games and activities, and supplies for the programs and actively support the Site Coordinators in day-to-day management of program operations and student outreach and recruitment. The MS Manager will bring the Site Coordinators together regularly to share program ideas and collaborate on planning for new program sessions.

Both the Salem program (Expanding Horizons) and the Lynn program (Dream MORE) are 21st Century Community Learning Center programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education and are run in partnership with the host school districts. The programs support youth from diverse populations and backgrounds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Hiring and training Program Staff
  • Overseeing New Session Planning and Spending
  • Reviewing and Enhancing Curriculum Resources
  • Student Recruitment
  • Site Coordinator and On-Site Program Support and Administration
  • Data and Dept of Ed (DESE) Reporting

May be required to perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Middle School Programs

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree (in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Sociology, or other related fields)
  • Two (2) years of demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Three (3) or more years of youth development experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity, developing an equity-lens, and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

ADDITIONAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Must have access to reliable transportation and/or a current driver’s license for days when travel is required
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in working with underserved youth and commitment to developing skills to best support this demographic group and demonstrated understanding of the unique barriers faced by this group
  • Experience supporting and helping the development of staff
  • Must hold the belief that all youth have the ability to enroll and graduate with a post-secondary degree or credential, if they choose to do so
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Grant writing skills a plus but not required
  • Must be a critical thinker and problem-solver and provide an example to show this
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and Google Drive (required); experience with organizing classes that live stream and/or record using applications such as Zoom (preferred).
  • Ability to speak and communicate in Spanish and English, preferred but not required
  • Previous lesson planning experience preferred
  • Must be flexible about working some Fridays and evenings and very occasionally weekend days

Compensation for this position ranges from $27.00/hour to $30.50/hour depending on experience and education.

Benefits: As a full-time employee working 40 hours a week, you will qualify for the following:

  • Accrued hours up to 3 weeks of vacation to start (increases based on tenure)
  • Accrued hours up to an additional 19 days in sick and personal time (including optional holidays)
