Job Summary
The Agricultural Recruitment Representative for Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker (MSFW) Services will be responsible for promoting and providing outreach to MSFWs in the agricultural industry in Minnesota. The specialist will develop and implement strategies to reach out to MSFWs and connect them with services and resources provided by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
The Agricultural Recruitment Representative will collaborate with community organizations, agricultural employers, and state agencies to identify and address the needs of MSFWs. The specialist will provide education and training to MSFWs on topics related to employment rights, safety, health, and other relevant issues. The specialist will also facilitate access to job training, career development, and other employment-related services for MSFWs.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience working with MSFWs and knowledge of the agricultural industry in Minnesota. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as the Agricultural Recruitment Representative will need to effectively collaborate with a variety of stakeholders. Additionally, the specialist should be culturally competent and able to work with diverse populations.
Overall, the Agricultural Recruitment Representative for MSFW Services will play a crucial role in promoting the economic stability and well-being of MSFWs in Minnesota by connecting them with essential services and resources.
Extensive travel is required to visit MSFWs and employers within assigned area and may be required to assist in other areas of the state to meet agency business needs.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
To receive credit for your education and experience, your resume should clearly describe how you meet each minimum and/or preferred qualification listed, including dates of employment.
Two (2) years* of experience working with or knowledge of Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker (MSFW) and agricultural employment issues; agricultural trends and business practices; employment laws and regulations (e.g., Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act (MSPA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Employment and Training Administration (ETA), child and farm labor, field sanitation, and housing).
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, horticulture, human relations, business or other closely related field as determined by the agency may substitute one (1) year of experience; master’s degree substitutes for eighteen (18) months of experience; PhD substitutes for twenty-four (24) months of experience
Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following:
Strong oral and written communication, customer service, and computer (e.g., MS Office or related software) skills
Ability to:
- Mediate and resolve complaints
- Interpret and apply policies and procedures, laws, and regulations, conduct interviews, surveys, make presentations
- Collect and analyze data, prepare reports, provide technical assistance and respond to employment related inquiries
Skill communicating in a secondary language such as Spanish
Incumbent must maintain valid driver's license, & insurance, OR have other reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
College degree with a focus on agriculture, horticulture, human relations, business or related field as determined by the agency, or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
Experience conducting outreach activities and working with employment assistance activities
Substantial work experience working with agricultural and/or farmworkers assistance programs
