About the Role: Our Modeling & Simulation team is looking for a Modeling and Simulation Scientist who will provide Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analytical support in the areas of medical device design, development and optimization. This position offers a unique opportunity to model cardiovascular hemodynamics that will assist the design iteration of medical products and provide regulatory support. The Modeling and Simulation Scientist will perform CFD analysis simulations using engineering principles of fluid mechanics, materials, and durability of medical devices.
This position will be located at a facility in Flagstaff, Arizona or a facility in Phoenix, Arizona, with work from home days possible as part of a hybrid arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.*
Responsibilities:
- Provide analytical support in the areas of medical product design, optimization and new product development
- Perform CFD modeling of transient flow, species transport, porous jumps, mass transport and heat transfer analysis
- Develop and advance CFD and Fluid-Structure Interaction capabilities to support accelerated product design and evaluation
- Perform other analytical procedures that will assist in the application, design and manufacture of medical products
- Verify and validate computational analyses
- Process automation, scripting and optimization
Required Qualifications:
- Masters of Science degree in mechanical, biomedical engineering, or similar degree with a minimum of 5 years experience in computational fluid dynamics analysis
- Experience in computational fluid dynamics, specifically analysis in Fluent, Star CCM+ and COMSOL or similar with related pre- and post-processing software
- Experience in cardiovascular hemodynamics
- Experience in programming languages (e.g. C++, Python)
- Advanced experience in solid modeling, specifically SolidWorks
- Comfortable working in a small team
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills
- Proven ability to embrace new concepts and learn quickly
- Ability to travel 5%

- Doctoral degree in in mechanical or biomedical engineering
- Experience creating user-defined functions for modeling, experience with AI/ML, and statistical design of experiments and uncertainty analyses
