Summary:
Matrix Plastic Products is searching for an on-site automation engineer to help in the injection molding industry.
Responsibilities:
- Integration between robotics/EOAT, cameras, sensors, other automation applications, and injection molding machines
- Ability to work with multiple departments and teams
- Conceive, develop, and carry out projects that will automate, improve quality, reduce operating costs, increase yield and reduce downtime/scrap
- Design new high-speed equipment and machinery as conceived to support the in-house needs of both production and processing engineers
- Conceptualize, source, evaluate, qualify, test, install and troubleshoot purchased equipment
- Modify and/or integrate existing equipment in order to improve processes in a manner consistent with the business needs
- Responsible for introducing, designing and implementing innovative new technologies into the manufacturing process
- Work completed on-site at our Wood Dale facility
- This position is hands-on
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics or Industrial Engineering
Experience:
- 1-3 years of manufacturing engineering or automation experience
- Previous technical experience at Cognex, Keyence, Yushin, or other similar organizations, a plus
- Designing and building of EOAT
- PLC Programming experience a plus; including S5 and S7 logic
- Experience with robotics a plus
- Experience with vision systems a plus
- Machine building capabilities
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of FMEA, DOE, and Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma tools, a plus
- Accomplished at need analysis, addressing issues and meeting deadlines
- History of maintaining skills via training opportunities
- Above-average communication skills, both orally and to produce quality written work Instructions.
- Punctual and disciplined, so as to be a strong role model
- A good listener, open to new ideas and innovation from all around
- Comfortable working in a team as well as with minimal immediate supervision
Compensation
- Hourly range $25-$36 (depending on experience) with opportunities for overtime.
