What’s new with Aptar

We have an exciting position open: Molding and Toolroom Manager, this position will report to the Production Manager. This position will be based in Eatontown and will have the overall responsibility for managing the molding department’s production while maintaining high quality, safety & efficiency standards. The Molding & Tool Room Manager will be responsible for coordinating the daily production activities for the molding department for all 3 shifts as well as mold preventative maintenance, tool repairs and troubleshooting. The incumbent will be develop and implement an overall molding strategy , including working with external providers and developing more efficient processes for conducting preventive maintenance and repairs to molds. This role has multiple direct reports: toolmakers working in the tool room (3-5), 1st shift injection molding technicians (2), 1st shift molding packers (2).

This is how your journey begins

· You will Assist Technicians, Material Handlers, Operators, and Auditors

· You will review and coordinate changes to daily production plan / assign production activities to off shift molding production.

· You will provide technical advice and support on all aspects of Tool design, manufacturing and estimating.

· You will support production and engineering with tooling/technical problems.

· You will supervise/Manage the running and plan activities of the tool room facilities and toolmakers, ensuring the tool room is a safe environment in line with health, safety and environmental requirements.

· You will manage Molding production and guarantee on-time availability of tools to ensure continuous production and increase of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

· You will manage new mold qualification through production.

· You will develop and manage procedural arrangements whereby proposals on new equipment or tool design can be assessed for their impact in performance terms.

· You will maximize the use of all resources, including IT and database maintenance for tracking all tools, implementing a planned schedule of maintenance and repair activity to ensure a computerized log is kept on faults and service history of tools.

· You will implement budget for investment of new equipment and drive these investments.

· Implement storage of tools to facilitate highest standards within the department for good housekeeping, health, safety and environment.

· You will ensure all stock items, tool inserts and spares are organized.

· You will oversee all work through the tool room efficiently, cost effectively, and ensure that all target dates for tooling are met.

· You will provide quotations for new tooling, modifications and repairs

· You will produce written reports and make presentations.

· You will stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the tool room products, materials and advise others of any impact

· You will develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility: Molding & Toolroom.

· You will ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met by working to the overall plan, including management of, and reporting.

· You will ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.

· You will manage production through SAP & MES. Ensure proper consumption, declaration and movement of raw material, WIP & Finished Goods.

· You will manage employees Time & Attendance through ADP.

What you will bring on the journey

Education

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline is required.

· At least 10 years’ experience in a technical field within a manufacturing environment, preferably tool making.

· Extensive plant level experience with significant proven supervisory experience

Experience

· Technical understanding

· Understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Kaizen, lean manufacturing

· Understanding of manufacturing and procurement/supply chain

· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office

· Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems experience, preferably SAP

· Excellent leadership and people-management skills

· Excellent interpersonal skills

· Ability to manage a variety of cross-functional team members

· Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills

· Excellent organizational and follow-up skills

· Competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making

· Commercially aware
