Job description

Mission Montessori believes our goal as educators is to help each child become a passionate member of the human community who is confident, creative, and flourishing. We pride ourselves on taking our mission to heart and having a school culture that supports our mission. We know that our students thrive when we, as adults, feel passionate about our work and create an environment where we also feel confident, creative, and flourishing.

We are seeking a Montessori Program Director. This new team member will work closely with our Head of School, overseeing our various Montessori program levels, providing leadership and teacher support, partnering with parents, and ensuring quality programming in all of our classrooms. It’s a wonderful role for a passionate Montessorian interested in helping lead and supporting teaching teams and families!

What You Would Be Doing

  • Supporting our teachers through classroom observations, regular check-ins and communication, training and mentorship, goal-setting, and yearly reflections.
  • Ensuring high-quality implementation of Montessori principles and best practices for child development. This includes guiding teachers to find the best schedule, physical environment, and overall approach to child interaction for our students to flourish.
  • Helping establish standards of communication for teachers so that parents feel informed about their child’s education and care, as well as maintaining active communication with parents to troubleshoot when a parent has questions the teachers cannot address.
  • Creating and implementing strategic plans for teacher and student retention. As part of this, you would plan field trips, professional development events, community events, admissions events, parent education events, and more.
  • Working with our Head of School and leadership team to provide support as needed, including stepping into classrooms and working some evenings and weekends for admissions, community, and parent education events.
  • As a member of our campus leadership team, promoting and living our culture and values on campus and among our community.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • has a Bachelor’s degree and a Montessori diploma
  • has 5+ years of teaching experience and has gone through an entire Montessori 3-year-cycle
  • has experience leading a team
  • has strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • has excellent organizational skills
  • is solutions-oriented
  • is flexible and excited by the idea of every day looking different
  • can manage multiple priorities
  • continuously self-reflects and seeks ways to grow as a person and educator
  • loves exchanging ideas with others so we can all benefit from each other's strengths and knowledge
  • speaks Spanish

What You Can Expect

  • a competitive salary for the San Francisco Bay Area: $75,000 - $90,000, dependent on qualifications
  • paid sick leave, personal days, breaks, and holidays
  • paid medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • life insurance and disability insurance
  • an FSA
  • tuition discounts
  • opportunity to enroll in our 401(K) retirement savings program
  • relocation assistance
  • a variety of professional development opportunities unique to each employee’s career path and interests
  • a wonderful community that includes passionate and supportive educators from around the world, social events, and community lunches
  • beautiful working environments (take a virtual tour of our campus here)
  • a central location that's easily accessible by public transit

Our Hiring Process

  • Every application is carefully reviewed and receives a response.
  • We understand that people from all paths and backgrounds have so much to offer and we believe diversity enriches communities and lives. Our interview process reflects this and is based on the same holistic approach that we use in all other areas of our work. Our goal is to carry out a process that is as informative as possible for both our school and the candidate so everyone can make educated decisions about what is right for them.
  • The steps after we receive an application are an initial 30-minute Zoom call with our HR & Talent Coordinator, a written packet, a reference check, and a Zoom interview with our HR & Talent Coordinator and our Head of School. We also love to have candidates talk with other members of our community and visit our campus when possible.
