Mortgage Loan Officer
(This position will be eligible to work from home with the expectation you are in the office as business needs arise. The ideal candidate will live in the St. Louis area and will commute to the corporate office for company and team sponsored events. This could include team meetings, team building sessions, and as other needs arise.)

Role
Examines, evaluates, and authorizes or recommends approval of member applications for residential real estate loans by performing the following duties. Originates first mortgages, solicits new mortgage business outside of the branch or home office, maintains good outside working relationships, and promotes the organizations products and services.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides loan information and service to members, realtors, and others as needed. Respond to inquiries from prospective members regarding all types of mortgages and provide information regarding the organizations lending policies. Request necessary documentation in order to analyze member financial status, income, assets, property estimated value and Purchase contract information to determine feasibility of granting loans. Notify applicants not qualified for further consideration. Educate member on the different loan options. Identify their financial goals and ways to meet those goals. Negotiate rates, terms, conditions and lock rate. Review file for completeness and submit to processing, correspond with members for additional items needed. Build and maintain close relations with others in the banking community, home construction, real estate, and related industries in an effort to encourage referrals for mortgage loans. In order to do so it is necessary for the Mortgage Loan Officer to customarily and regularly (which, at a minimum, will be several times per week, but daily trips outside of the branch office is highly encouraged) travels outside of the branch or home office in order to meet with referral sources, mortgage loan prospects and others, and to complete paperwork which documents their sales and networking activities outside of the home or branch office. Activities and functions that the Mortgage Loan Officer is expected to attend includes, but is not limited to, the following: open houses, chamber of commerce meetings, trade shows, seminars, distributing flyers to local businesses, meetings and networking events with real estate agents, home builder representatives, escrow agents, etc. In general, approximately half of the Mortgage Loan Officer’s work time will be outside of the home or branch office, and the Mortgage Loan Officer is expected to meet with customers to solicit and finalize their loans at their businesses, residences, or other location of the customer’s choosing.
- Prepares records and reports as requested regarding loan origination and closing activities as needed. Loan closing – send and review necessary closing disclosures to members based on regulatory guidelines and attend closings based on geographic locations.
- Monitor individual pipeline, completed Reg B letters, contact members on incomplete applications or no response members. Communicate with processors to confirm status and outstanding conditions to ensure timely commitments and closings are met.
- Keep informed of industry compliance changes, completed training as needed for updates on NMLS, secondary market, and regulatory compliance. Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Complete and submit portfolio requests to management. Provide sales forecast to management and communicate changes to monthly numbers.
- Promote and cross sell all credit union products based on member needs. Identify new marketing ideas, potential business prospects or loan products to promote and communicate to management. Assist with the development of new loan markets and products as needed.
- Promotes a positive relationship between the members (internal and external) and the Credit Union and understands that service delivery to members is the number one priority of the Credit Union.
- Completes all other tasks, assignments or functions as assigned and/or required.
- Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Salary: Commission based structure
