Motor Vehicle Mechanic, Base Shop
Location: Fort Riley, KS, US
Regular Full-Time
Essential Responsibilities:
The Motor Vehicle Mechanic repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, trucks and other “light” equipment. The Motor Vehicle Mechanic’s work involves most of the following: diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems. In general, the work of the Motor Vehicle Mechanic requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.
Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of U.S. Army maintenance processes and logistics information systems.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Experience with filing records, reporting on use of materials, and monitoring customer requests.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
- Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.
- Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 30 pounds.
- Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.
- May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
- Must provide a signed DD Form 3150 to confirm COVID-19 vaccination status and provide proof of vaccination
Preferred Qualifications:
A CDL is a plus, but not required.
