What You Will Do:


General Summary


Under general supervision of the Director, Web Services, the Web Content Specialist will assist with the day-to-day maintenance of websites and other digital assets for the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS).

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

  • Makes system and entity web updates using content management system.
  • Informed by the system website editorial calendar, tracks content updates, reaching out to subject matter experts and implementing timely updates.
  • Monitors user pathway through websites, identifying opportunities and suggesting enhancements to improve the user experience.
  • Responds to consumer website inquiries, analyzing requests and recommending improvements to site content and methods for user engagement.
  • Corrects misspellings, broken links, and other usability issues using third-party tool.
  • Assists with managing website domain purchases, renewals and transfers.
  • Reviews web content for adherence to AP Style, search engine optimization (SEO) best practices and brand standards.
  • Keeps abreast of healthcare internet trends, technology and best practices.

What You Need to Be Successful:


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Two years of related experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Google Analytics and SEO.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Sitecore experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and meet work schedules within limited time frames and under tight deadlines and ability to work a temporary, alternative schedule when the need arises.
  • Effective verbal, writing, and strategic thinking skills.
