About the role:

The Multifamily Construction Manager supervises renovation projects from beginning to end, ensuring that projects are completed within time and budgetary constraints. An understanding of the construction business and the ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment are important for career success. This position has an incredible opportunity to make significant impacts to enhance the Construction Management process for a new, growing department within a well-established investment firm.

What you'll do:
  • Manage all interior unit renovations, capital, and other construction projects
  • Responsible for creating and achieving all construction scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Manage cost estimating, bid process, and contract administration
  • Negotiate bulk purchases with vendors and suppliers as appropriate
  • Drive and assess properties prior to acquisitions
  • Assist in creating the capital expenditure scope of work for new acquisitions, factoring in the highest return on investment
  • Oversee multiple sites simultaneously and monitor progress of properties under rehab
  • Source and establish strong network of contractors and vendors in DFW
  • Supervise onsite crew and communicate with contractors
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure project remains on schedule
  • Work with city inspectors, planners to clear violations and permits
  • Work with Asset Management and Design team to assess building condition of prospective acquisitions and existing assets in the portfolio to determine capital needs
  • Review third party inspection reports to assist in creating construction scope prior to acquisition
What you'll need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction or business management or related field
  • Previous experience in the construction/rehab field with multi-family units
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of 5+ years of construction experience with 3+ years of multi-family unit construction and renovation project management
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Self-starter with excellent work ethic
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Positive role model and leader
  • Ability to work on a fast pace under minimal supervision
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with contractors and sub-contractors
  • Requires the ability to read, speak and understand work instructions and safety notices in English
