POSITION SUMMARY
Painter I is responsible for the application of various types of liquid coating products including Primers, Single stage topcoats and Base/Clear applications. As Painter I, you will train and develop Painter II positions to increase overall skill set within the department.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Efficiently and effectively apply paint coatings using proper techniques, equipment & material
  • Prepare work surfaces for paint including filing, sanding and taping
  • Prepare and maintain paint equipment
  • Understand and ensure the quality of the paint finishes produced by the paint department meets the New Flyer quality standard.
  • Read and interpret paint drawings to apply stencils or premask for applying stripes or other related paint designs.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to coach and develop Painter II positions
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and positive work environment
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Previous automotive paint experience required
  • Strong attention to detail with a steady hand and a good eye for spotting imperfections
  • Ability to read and follow intermediate measurements and possess elementary mechanical aptitude
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team to train and develop
  • Physically fit with the ability to stand, crouch, bend and or kneel for extended periods
  • Must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wear all protective gear including a full-face respirator, gloves, and paint suit
