NIET/TAP Observer
Job description
The Cecil J. Picard Center for Child Development & Lifelong Learning at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has openings for a part-time NIET/TAP observer/evaluator across the state of Louisiana with a specific area of need in the Lafourche area. Applicants must be willing to travel to all cities within the parish.
Applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in early elementary education or a related field. Additionally, applicants must have a minimum of two years experience working with young children in early elementary settings including kindergarten, first or second grade classrooms. Reliable transportation, computer access, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
The NIET Teaching and Learning Standards observation rubric is designed to support improvements in classroom instruction. It serves as a method for delivering high-quality professional development on instructional indicators and provides a measure for teacher evaluations in K-2 classrooms.
Potential observers will attend a 3-day training and pass an online certification test to become certified NIET/TAP evaluator. This is a part-time, part-year (September-May) position. NIET/TAP observations are conducted in the morning, and typically take two hours to complete where one observation can be completed per day.
