Overview

The Sales Manager develops and leads a team of Sales Consultants and Area Managers representing Southern Glazer s Wine and Spirits in the market. The Area Manager s primary responsibilities are to manage all aspects of the commercial sales force covering a large territory, district, or region including long-term and short-term marketing strategies, customer relationships, sales execution, supplier relationships, and supplier program execution.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage all facets of Shaw-Ross’ business in in Northern California. Duties include but are not limited to: educating distributor sales teams, managing personal T&E budget, pricing evaluation and recommendations, supporting and implementing programs developed by Shaw-Ross ’marketing department and achieving depletion and shipment goals.
  • Initiate, develop, and implement brand pricing for areas of responsibility.
  • Manage Northern California distributor which functions include but are not limited to: Distributor profitability, brand pricing to accounts base, create and implement executive and sales incentives; create and implement brand programming, review depletions, shipments, accounts sold and monthly goals. Work with distributor executive management and sales personnel in the field to determine the brand’s health and their place in the market.
  • Strict adherence to brand budgets and future forecasting of budget dollars.
  • Communicate, motivate, and educate distributor management executives and sales reps to sell and focus on Shaw-Ross products.
  • Create relationships with and nurture large retail accounts, small chain, and on-premise accounts in Northern California. In addition, sell in new items and program current items in the retail trade. Create, develop an implement off and on-premise brand promotions.
  • Weekly review of brand inventory in the market.
  • Quarterly review of brand spoils and damaged packaging in the market.
  • Prepare monthly reports (depletions and shipments, promotional calendars, industry overview, etc.) and send to managing director.
  • When required, create and prepare distributor reviews outlining brand depletions, accounts sold, percentage of increase, goals and brand budgets.

Additional Primary Responsibilities

Preferred Credentials:

  • SAP/BW familiarity
  • WSET accreditation and any equivalent wine/spirit/sake accreditations.
  • DIVER Reporting System
  • Compass and IDIG software familiarity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must reside in Bay Area
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Advance computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Products-Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook, Diver & Sales Nav. Systems
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ten (10) years of experience related to Wine & Spirits/ Industry knowledge to include basic understanding of distribution, wine varietals and leading spirit categories.
  • Comprehensive understanding of wine to include regions/varietals, product/food paring techniques, basic production, and service
  • Strong and established relationships in the Northern California
  • Lift carries a 45+ pound case of product.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Goal oriented, focused, and assertive individual who needs little direction or supervision
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and current insurance
  • Must carry auto insurance, $100,000/$300,000 in vehicle liability and $50,000 in property damage and be listed

  • Physical demands with activity or condition may include walking, bending, reaching, standing, squatting, and stooping
  • Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include driving throughout the day with segments up to 2 hours
  • May require lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 45lbs
