Job Description
- Log into the Transport system (EPIC), at the beginning of the shift if not assigned to other areas. When not on an assignment, call EPIC system approximately every 5 minutes to assure you have closed out your assignment or not given a new assignment. DO NOT solely depend on the pagers.
- Introduce self to patient and or family.
- Transport Patients to floors and ancillary testing
- Assist in moving patients to and from bed, exam table, wheelchair, if requested by medical staff, technologist, etc.
- Pick up and deliver blood, blood products, gases, charts, etc.
- Collect and return stretches and wheelchairs to designated areas.
- Remove deceased patients from the units to the morgue, then take face sheet to Admitting
- Report all safety and job related issues to Supervisor.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Immediately respond to the overhead page “Medical Alert – Medical Response Team” (Code 5) with a stretcher or wheelchair.
- Immediately respond to the overhead page “Stemi”.
- Manned the elevators when needed to transport patients or staff with equipment throughout the hospital.
Minimum Qualifications
Elementary school graduation or equivalent ability to effectively communicate with patients; Ability to keep simple clinical records.
