ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF JUVENILE CORRECTIONS, NAMPA:
The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections has regionalized state services for juveniles committed to its custody, making it possible for most juveniles to remain close enough to their communities so parents and other key community members can take part in the juvenile's treatment. State juvenile correctional centers are located in Lewiston, Nampa, and St. Anthony and provide a full complement of services for youth who range from 10 to 20 years of age. Nampa is located just minutes from the capital city of Boise in southwestern Idaho. It is the second largest city in Idaho with all the amenities one would expect of an urban area while still retaining that home town atmosphere.

The state of Idaho's Juvenile Corrections system is based on the following principles: accountability, community protection, and competency development. We work to hold juvenile offenders accountable for their actions, and assist them in developing skills to become a contributing member of a diverse community.

We also work to enable parents or other legal guardians of our youth to participate in the accomplishment of these goals through participation in counseling and treatment programs designed to develop positive parenting skills and an understanding of the family’s role in the youth's behavior.

Staff and juveniles continually work together to create a safe and secure environment that is conducive to making the changes necessary for juveniles to be able to return to their communities with the skills and values that will give them the opportunity to be successful citizens.
