QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education: Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy
B. Training and experience:
- Current State License as an Occupational Therapist
- Two years of direct service work in a treatment setting for patients.
- Work in a clinical setting and homes as a provider: 1) facilitate a team approach toward treatment; 2) train therapist, 3) educate other staff members concerning the culture of care of the agency; and 3)implement, monitor, collect and evaluate data.
- Understand and be able to utilize the following of skill sets: 1) Evaluate the Efficacy of Treatment, 2) Perspective taking of patient, staff, and families, 3) Effective Demonstration of Implementation of Therapy, 4) Demonstration of Professional Behavior, 5) Competence with Crisis Intervention, and 6) Facilitating Effective Training with Parents and Staff.
- Experience working with individuals with autism preferred.
JOB SPECIFIC STANDARDS
- Perform clinical assessment; identifies patient needs and appropriateness of patient.
- Document, prepare/revises and complete a Plan of Care, progress notes and other clinical record documentation on an ongoing basis.
- Accept clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for the patients.
- Assess and facilitate through direct therapeutic intervention patient’s ROM, strength, coordination, need for and use of adaptive equipment and environmental modifications, functional mobility and safety issues as related to patient’s ADL performance needs. Fabricate and maintain equipment and hand splints.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
