Position Summary:
We're looking for an Operations Manager to lead Welch's manufacturing operations in North East, PA. Under the direction of the Director of Manufacturing, the Operations Manager will lead and manage all Production/Processing, Packaging, and Distribution processes within the Plant, according to Welch's culture, in order to achieve required production volume in compliance with quality standards and in accordance with KPIs.
The Operations Manager will lead, motivate, and build a team in a collaborative environment, by conveying and driving a compelling vision, focused on a lean and continuous improving culture.
What You'll Do:
- Lead the team through an emphasis on both process and people
- Communicate effectively with team members through both oral and written means
- Directs managers responsible for the scheduling, packaging, processing and maintenance functions.
- Coach managers on the principles of effective production, processing, and packaging processes
- Coach team members on the principles of effective leadership
- Provide feedback in a timely manner to managers on individual performance
- Build rapport and collaborative relationships across cross-functional teams
- As a member of the leadership team, partner with Safety Manager to plan, develop, and implement operational safety programs and activities
- Ensure salaried staff within your area of operation perform required safety behavioral observations
- Ensure that behaviors, practices, and the work environment support a safe workplace by enforcing safety rules and principles
- Ensure operational compliance with safety absolutes
- Oversee the development and implementation of solid troubleshooting procedures to correct product deviations
- Lead managers to collaborate with the quality function in a way that improves overall food safety and quality performance
- Uphold a strict culture where food safety/ quality compromises are not allowed, and restraints (holds) are minimized.
- Support leadership team and facility through audit preparation and readiness
- Develop and implement operations improvement plans
- Implement foundational tools of operational of operational excellence (Centerline, CIL and defect handling)
- Use standard work processes to ensure repeatable performance
- Collaborate with other managers to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments through the escalation process
- Oversee the review of invoices, work orders, consumption reports, or demand forecasts to estimate peak delivery periods and adjust manufacturing strategy as appropriate to deliver KPIs
- Support fiscal responsibility through the review and management of operational budget items
- Oversee reporting of operational KPIs (OEE, schedule attainment, Adherence, RTFT, etc)
Who You Are:
- Expertise in overseeing manufacturing operations, including production planning, production scheduling, line setup and change out, production control, and production optimization.
- Expertise in manufacturing standards and metrics (e.g., KPIs) for safety, quality, production, labor and material variances, and employee relations and retention.
- Experience engaging with customers to plan for and address product, quality, and service requirements and collaborate on service improvement opportunities.
- Expertise in forecasting, budgeting, and P&L management.
- Experience in applying Lean manufacturing concepts to reduce cost and improve productivity; experience developing and organizing continuous improvement programs; demonstrated track record of driving positive change.
- Experience in maintenance and technical programs that reinforces production operations.
- Experience in materials management, including procurement, inventory control, warehouse management, and inbound/outbound logistics.
- Experience managing capital improvement initiatives and expansion plans during ongoing operations.
- Experience in an FDA regulated environment where quality, compliance, and safety are core values.
- Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
- Someone who is flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive; able to motivate themselves and others; a natural bias for action and ability to deal with ambiguity.
- Experience building, developing, engaging and overseeing high-performing manufacturing teams, with a track record of questioning behavioral norms and driving cultural change.

What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Technical Field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role with increasing responsibility in food/beverage or CPG manufacturing environments.
- Experience working with Continuous Improvement/Lean methods and tools (Total Production Maintenance, Centerlines, CIL's, Defect Handling, 5S, Quick Changeover)

Position Summary:
We're looking for an Engineering Manager that will be responsible for developing and delivering strategic capital plans and lead engineering at our North East, PA and Westfield, NY plants. The Engineering Manager will be a technical leader counted on to drive plant operational goals, design technical strategies for utilities and infrastructure, as well as supporting the EHS Manager in ensuring plant environmental compliance for various programs.
What You'll Do:
- Manage the North East, PA and Westfield, NY multi-year capital planning process to ensure the most effective use of the company capital assets; prepare plants' capital budgets and cash flow projections; recommend and control plant capital cash flow as needed to meet timelines and budget objectives.
- Manage engineering resources (plant and third party) to ensure the capital plan can be executed within all parameters while also managing the abililty to support plant operational and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead engineers and plant staff in understanding the capital plan and their role to support justification, planning, and execution of key capital projects identified.
Execute projects through all phases incluiding managing CQV process when applicable, as well as setting up systems for asset sustainability.
- Provide leadership for major projects which require the assistance of other engineers, plant personnel, and other departments. As such, assumes overall project responsibility including the work of other engineers as well as construction management.
- Collaborate with corporate and other plant resources in order to leverage continous improvement thinking in support of Supply Chain Excellence.
- Provide key capital and engineering updates to senior leadership as required.
- Lead and coach formal risk mitigation efforts (FMEA) on all critical capital projects to ensure project KPIs are met and to reduce business interuptions.
- Responsible for hiring and career development of direct reports, encompassing performance management, identifying growth needs and opportunities to broaden engineering and management skills in building and maintaining an effective team.
- Develop and utilizes best practice asset care management via the use of technology, continuous improvement tools and standard work procedures that are to be used to sustain and extend asset life.
- Lead and support various efforts to develop and execute productivity pipeline.
- Work with cross functional parties at all levels of the organization including marketing, R&D, Finance, IT and Operations, when necessary.
- Support EH&S Manager in the ownership and management of various Environmental Compliance programs such as PSM, Wastewater, SPCC, Air permitting, and Stormwater management.
- Support, coach, and work closely with the maintenance and reliability team in a 24/7 operation to ensure asset sustainability, standardization, troubleshooting, and overall best practices are being followed.
- Provide overall technical leadership for the North East, PA and Westfield, NY plants.

What You'll Need:
- BS. in Engineering or related field required
- 8+ years' experience in a manufacturing technical leadership role with 3+ years in Plant Engineering Management.
- Experience working within a beverage, bottling, and/or hot-fill pasteurization atmosphere is preferred
- Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with all company levels, and regulatory agencies.
- Excellent technical leadership ability in all areas of asset lifecycle management
- Strategic leadership competencies (delivery execution, people development/resource management/holding people accountable, prioritization techniques)
- Demonstrated track record of results
- Lean, TPM, FMEA, RCA, CQV expertise desired
- Maintenance/Reliability experience desired
- PSM experience/expertise desired
- Proficiency in Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Location is North East, PA (Erie, PA area)
