Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

The Operations Manager/Shift Supervisor is responsible for facilitating daily shelter operations.
Cromwell Avenue Safe Haven is a facility that provides temporary housing, nutritious meals, clean clothing, counseling groups and case management services to formerly homeless men. To learn more about the program, copy and paste link https://www.voa-gny.org/housing

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred plus one year relevant experience working in a similar capacity in a social services setting. Must possess good interpersonal skills and basic computer knowledge. Certifications in security required and Fire Safety (F-80) obtained within 3 months of hire.

Supervisory Role:
This position does have supervisory responsibilities.

Principal Responsibilities:
1. Operations Manager supervises delivery of program services including intake, bed assignments, case management services, distribution of client mail, lockers, meal cards and medication.
2. Operations Manager ensures optimal customer service is being provided to clients.
3. Operations Manager/Shift Supervisor ensures recreation activities are occurring.
4. Ensures the facility is adequately staffed at all times.
5. Operations manager/Shift supervisor works with DHS PD to ensure the daily security and safety of the facility.
6. Supervises facility maintenance, cleaning staff and fire safety.
7. Manages community relations and communicates with relevant authorities as needed.
8. Perform related tasks as needed.
