Herzog is currently seeking an Operations Supervisor in Oklahoma City, OK to join our team. Operation Supervisors are an integral part of the organization, overseeing Oklahoma City Streetcar Operations. They are responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the Streetcar System through monitoring and directing rail movement. Supervisors are also responsible for the field supervision of Rail Operations and Facilities including station platforms, structures, and equipment. Supervisors are expected to follow and enforce company, State and Federal policies, procedures, rules, and guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides supervision of Operators.
  • Monitors, controls, and directs activities of internal departments and emergency response agencies during accidents/incidents as required; monitors schedule adherence; develops, directs, implements and controls delay management strategies or other recovery techniques during service delays or other unusual situations that may impact “on-time” performance.
  • Participates in the hazard identification and resolution process.
  • Ensures that the streetcar system is safe and secure during hours of operation.
  • Uses SCADA and closed-circuit cameras as needed.
  • Adjusts service levels and headways as required by operating conditions.
  • Authorizes movement of trains on the alignment; monitors, coordinates, and controls all work on rail property.
  • Acts as liaison between Streetcar Operations and other internal departments and external agencies, both public and private, to manage and deploy resources during special events, emergency situations and other related matters.
  • Assists with accident and perform accident investigation.
  • Occasionally trains streetcar personnel and other employees in safe operation of streetcars.
  • Assists in the implementation of rules, procedures, and policies.
  • Performs operational evaluations and proficiency test and participates actively in emergency drills.
  • Prepares concise report, compiles information, and maintains procedural reference information; performs administrative duties, projects, and public relations assignments
  • Adheres to, counsels, advises, and monitors compliance and proper application of rules, procedures and regulations by employees, internal departments, outside agencies and contractors; documents non-compliance with rules and policies when required.
  • Continually works to improve overall performance within the work unit.
  • Monitors compliance with EEO, harassment free workplace policies and other agency policies and procedures.
  • Communicates strategies, concerns, and goals with the management.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and projects and communicates with other involved or affected departments and/or agencies regarding possible service issues.
  • Assists Streetcar Operations and customers when revenue service is impacted; provides assistance and information to customers as required.
  • Operates streetcars as needed.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • One year of Streetcar operations experience preferred.
  • Streetcar Training experience preferred.
  • Experience in operations of transit vehicles. At least one year of administrative and/or lead experience preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of Operations programs for a transit agency.
  • Awareness/knowledge of various agencies (Federal Transit Administration, ODOT, etc.) that promulgate and enforce rail safety standards, rules, and regulations.
  • Training experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products such as Word and Excel.
  • A work history that demonstrates consistent consideration given to safety.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to create relationships in the workplace.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • This position requires you to pass and maintain a DOT medical evaluation to drive a Herzog Commercial vehicle.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.

  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to one-half mile.
  • Maintain balance for an extended period of time while train is in motion.
  • Must be able to be aware of surroundings and follow verbal commands while being exposed to moderately loud noises on a daily basis.
  • Work in a confined access/space environment with a width of 24 inches.
  • Must be able to adapt to various temperature extremes including but not limited to heat, cold, moisture and wind.
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Able to tolerate repetitive movements: bending and overhead reaching.
  • Regularly to push/pull a force of 25 pounds.
  • Regularly ascend/descend a platform with a height of up to 18 inches from the floor.
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals.
  • Able to work in a safety sensitive work environment.
