Salary Range: $21.25 - 26.50/hr

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing planting media in appropriate containers, sowing, thinning, and transplanting of seeds/seedlings
- Greenhouse cleanup and disposal of plants, containers, media, etc. after project completion
- General operational support for breeding, plant pathology, and cell biology projects and programs
- Participate and oversee molecular marker sampling activities
- Conduct routine repair and maintenance of equipment
- Conduct training for workers involved in key operational activities
- Work alongside and oversee contract laborers conducting routine operational activities
Laboratory Support
- Technical support for quality analysis of plants and fruit extracts
- Collection and processing of plant tissue samples (seed, leaf, fruit, etc.) for analysis by research teams
- Data entry into research databases and spreadsheets
- General lab and office operational support activities
- Ensure regulatory compliance of station operations by creating and improving standard operating procedures
- Maintain appropriate records and documentation to meet requirements with respect to safety and training
- Conduct periodic assessments and improvements related to seed sanitation efforts in fields and greenhouses
- Set up equipment and tools associated with key station activities including sowing, harvesting, seed extraction, fruit handling and processing and seed packaging
- Support general site, lab, office, or greenhouse activities as needed
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Knowledge of routine greenhouse growing practices and requirements
- Accuracy and efficiency in testing activities and general job responsibilities
- Strong communication, training, and supervisory skills
- Fluent in English and Spanish, both verbal and written
- Computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook are a plus
- Must be able to work as a team member as well as a team leader
- Adaptability – Ability to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
- Attendance/Punctuality. Ensures work responsibilities are covered
- Dependability. Ability to work in an independent and self-directed manner
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in lab, greenhouse, agriculture, or plant production industries.
Non-smoking applicants are preferred for this position due to the essential business-related interest in avoiding the known risks of plant virus (e.g. tobacco mosaic virus) contamination from tobacco products that cause severe harmful impacts to greenhouse crops. Contamination is known to occur from workers contaminating healthy plants after smoking tobacco products.
