Job Description
Location: Suffolk VA
Background & Purpose of the Job
The largest tea processing facility in the United States, Lipton Tea, is looking for Operations Technician at its manufacturing plant in Suffolk, Virginia..
The Operations Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining production assets within the factory. This includes Primary and Secondary Tea Packaging equipment as well as associated Conveyors and Palletizing equipment.
Who You Are & What You’ll Do
The Operations Technician reports to the Production Supervisor. The Operations Technician is responsible for all changeover, troubleshooting and defined Autonomous Maintenance activities. The Operations Technician is a member of the Autonomous Maintenance Pillar. This individual possesses strong teamwork, interpersonal, written and verbal communication and problem solving skills.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Comply with all policies, procedures, safety, and sanitation rules
  • Report unsafe acts and conditions, correct if possible.
  • All job functions are to be performed in compliance with the plant’s safety and quality assurance programs.
  • Always puts Safety first when considering an improvement to current/new equipment or process changes.
  • Must achieve qualification level and completion of all training modules associated with assigned equipment.
  • Coach and train teams on problem solving and troubleshooting techniques according to Unilever/WCM Standards.
  • Design and implement training program for operators on technical and quality training. Provide feedback for improving the existing training program.
  • Understand Plant KPI requirements and fosters/drives teams to meet those requirements using WCM Tools/Techniques.
  • Accountable for high performance standards and able to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and able to be a link with External parties.
  • Able to participate in the development of training material for next steps in the WCM Process.
  • Must be a high performer/technically capable and self-directed in current/previous role.
  • Prepare assigned areas for sanitation audits and tours.
  • Complete all other assigned duties.

What You’ll Need To Succeed
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2+ years high speed manufacturing experience
  • Must be a high performer/ technically capable and self-directed in current/previous role
  • Ability to manage a number of high priority tasks with accuracy and adhering to deadlines
  • History of compliance to all policies and procedures such as safety, quality and GMPs
  • Must be able to perform problem solving and troubleshooting techniques
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and lift 50 lbs.
  • Must achieve qualification level and completion of all training modules associated with assigned equipment.
A WorkKeys assessment with a passing score is also required. A score of 4 or more points in all WorkKeys assessments will be considered a passing score (SILVER diploma or higher).
