Job description

  • Perform operations and facility maintenance tasks and duties in compliance with company policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.

  • Qualifies in the tank farm, understands and performs all tank lineups.

  • Control the condensate processing system operation, both process unit and console operations.

  • Monitor temperatures, pressures and flows of interim and finished products.

  • Sample and test materials to determine properties against specifications and known standards.

  • Coordinate and receive pipeline, rail, barge and truck receipts and deliveries to and from tanks.

  • Effect transfers of interim and finished products among tanks and to and from the processing unit.

  • Conduct terminal operations including inspection and monitoring of tanks, piping and valves; product sampling and testing; product inventory measurement and documentation; operational and regulatory record keeping; maintaining facility security including monitoring contractor work on site; and assisting customers as required.

  • Achieve and maintain all Operator Qualifications (OQ) and progression requirements applicable to the job classification.

  • Provide HAZWOPER and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act support and serve as needed in emergency response activities.

  • Drive company vehicle to work sites away from base location.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Utilize Human Machine Interface (HMI) to provide system control, equipment status, and alarm notifications revolving around the process control unit, tank farm, and truck loading rack interfaces.

  • Monitor and track details such as interlocks, temperature and material level alarms, permissive signal, start/stop sequences to assist operations and maintenance in troubleshooting and diagnosing problems.

  • Notify shift personnel of any faults within the system.

  • Interact with customer counterparts and supervision on a daily basis to coordinate and resolve daily tasks and issues.

  • Prioritize and plan work activities using time efficiently.

  • Notify supervisor of all breakdowns/malfunctions.

  • Consolidate and run system reports as required.

  • Assist maintenance and/or other departments as required.

  • Utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the assigned tasks and report damaged protective equipment and unsafe conditions to their supervisor.

  • Attend daily and monthly safety meetings; participate in and show proficiency (through written exam) in general and site specific operations and maintenance training programs from KM environmental, health, and safety standards.

  • Evaluate and develop site specific procedures.


  • Position may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of successful candidate.
  • Position Requirements


    Minimum requirements:

    Education:

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent.


    Experience / specific knowledge:

    • A minimum of 5 years of successful work experience in the petroleum distillation, transportation, and storage and distribution fields is required. Process Tech degree to count toward 5 years’ experience.

    • Previous experience serving as a process board operator is a plus.


      Certifications, licenses, registrations:

    • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Company Insurance Carrier

    • Must attain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credentials) as offered by TSA (Transportation Security Administration).


    Competencies, skills, and abilities:

    • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Send and receive email, perform inventory accounting, and enter repair work orders, etc.

    • Ability to accept supervision / direction and work cooperatively with other people.

    • Good oral and written communications in English.

    • Ability to perform mathematical calculations in the performance of some duties. Calculators and computers are available.

    • Ability & dependability to perform job duties with little or no supervision.

    • Ability to recognize, define and effectively resolve problems individually or collectively within a group and in ambiguous situations.

    • Must satisfactorily complete all training including passing evaluations & tests.

    • In order to appropriately perform the essential duties of this job, regular work attendance is required.
