Responsible for performing duties of operator when providing relief as needed during breaks including machine tending operations in a production environment

Role and Responsibilities

• Perform all duties of operator when providing relief as needed during breaks. Asisst as needed to keep operators caught up to the pace of the machine.
• Communicate with operators, other relief personnel, supervisors etc. to ensure smooth transition of responsibilities
• Perform a variety of routine duties related to the molding/forming, inspecting, packaging and assembly of components in accordance with specified customer requirements.
• Operate assigned press/machine(s) safely and efficiently. Ensure that operator workstations are organized and clean.
• Safely use fixtures and other tools needed for job task such as trimming.
• Perform visual inspections of each part in order to ensure compliance with specified requirements
• Perform required measurements to ensure compliance with specified requirements.
• Inform supervisor or quality department of any deviations and/or product specification problems.
• Pack and prepare finished assembled parts in appropriate containers and apply labels.
• Responsible for preparation of partial cartons with required labels and stickers.
• Responsible for labeling of scrap gaylords and reject products and placement in designated storage or drop off areas.
• Maintaining needed components and packaging to assigned machines.
• Breakdown all cardboard and dispose of scrap in cardboard recycle area.
• Responsible for light maintenance, including but not limited to wiping down press, vacuuming off any material, oil, water, etc., wiping down panels, cleaning conveyors, cleaning worktables, emptying trash and keeping floors clean.
• Assist with preparing for tool changes by disassembling job site, returning items to storage and getting items for next job.
• Asist with the training of operators
• Provide suggestions regarding continuous improvement activities relative to production processes and product quality.
• Observe all safety requirements and maintains work area in a neat and orderly condition. This includes but is not limited to product area, cleaning of machine and general cleaning.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. Strongly Preferred
• Experience with multiple work stations and products

Preferred Skills

• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Basic math and reading skills
• Ability to learn quickly
• Able to work well with others with minimal supervision
• Knowledge of hand and power tools and related machines beneficial
