The Outreach Assistant works collaboratively with GRID IE’s Outreach Manager and other department managers to implement GRID’s community outreach strategies to expand access to solar for low-income homeowners and residents in the Inland Empire. The Outreach Assistant reports to the Outreach Manager.

The Outreach Assistant works collaboratively with GRID IE’s Outreach Manager and other department managers to implement GRID’s community outreach strategies to expand access to solar for low-income homeowners and residents in the Inland Empire. The Outreach Assistant reports to the Outreach Manager.
The Opportunity…
- Collaborate with Outreach, Workforce, Development teams, and Regional Director to create and implement an outreach strategy to serve families in targeted areas to meet/exceed goals and funding deliverables
- Educate homeowners on the benefits of solar and our program, and deliver training sessions on how they can maximize their savings with the solar system and how to read their bill
- Support the regional outreach team in communicating important program and project information with prospective, current, and past clients
- Support the regional outreach team in accepting and processing Energy for All Program applications and project paperwork
- Assist and shadow Outreach Coordinators in homeowner trainings and eventually be able to conduct training for homeowners
- Help research potential partnerships with affordable housing developers, local government agencies, and community-based organizations in order to more effectively identify, encourage, and serve
- Assist other GRID departments to meet/exceed annual goals with activities connected to development/fundraising/sponsor
- Other job duties as assigned, including but not limited to: admin tasks, some public speaking, talking to media, working events, and marketing/PR
What you need to bring to this role…
- After starting with GRID, must successfully register and maintain a Home Improvement Salesperson registration with the Contractors State License Board
- Community outreach and/or sales experience a plus
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (ability to represent GRID
- Alternatives with partner organizations, speak to large groups, educate potential clients about our services, etc.)
- Strong desire to work with/in diverse communities
- Ability to lead, follow, and work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Available for occasional weekend and evening work as required
- Able to travel the Inland Empire region
- Demonstrated commitment to GRID Alternatives’ mission and the communities we serve
- Flexible and willing to embrace change and bring ideas and energy to a rapidly growing organization
- Proficient with MS Teams and GSuite (Google Docs, Calendar, etc.), and SalesForce, or able to quickly learn applications.
- Hired CA candidates must be able to pass a screening for drugs that are illegal in the state of California, including: amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, opiates, and PCP.
It would be great if you also had…
- 1+ years relevant experience
- Bilingual
- Experience living and/or working in economically disadvantaged communities and with diverse populations
- While it is not required that applicants have a background in renewable energy, experience or knowledge of the basics of solar energy is helpful
Where you will sit & the places you may go…
This position resides in our Inland Empire Office in Riverside, CA, and may require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required.
GRID Alternatives provides vehicles for work travel, and due to COVID-19 current guidelines, we may also require limited personal vehicle use. In the latter instance, GRID will provide travel reimbursement for work-related personal vehicle use in accordance with our payroll schedule. Additionally, all applicants will need a valid driver’s license and good driving record to be considered.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hourly pay commensurate with experience within the pay band of ($17 - $22 per hour), plus the benefits below.
