BASIC POSITION FUNCTION

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Outreach Specialist is responsible for developing networks among individuals, groups, organizations, and agencies through policy community-based approaches. This position is required to provide on-site services and/or outreach intervention in diverse, lower socioeconomic areas at various times of the day and evening.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct community outreach and presentations, increase community involvement and participation on key committees, organizations, and collaboratives in the Inland Empire.
  • Establish partnerships with local agencies and neighboring cities, communities, businesses, food pantries, governmental officials, and school leaders.
  • Work within contract/funding source guidelines/requirements (Riverside University Health Systems – Public Health).
  • Provide nutrition education and increase healthy food access to community members and youth in the cities of Jurupa Valley, Moreno Valley, and Corona.
  • Partner with program staff/volunteers and interns as needed.
  • Collect data and enter outreach outcome statistics.
  • Cross-department collaboration, training, and support.
  • Create and maintain a creative, positive, sustainable, and supportive work environment.
  • Ensures the adequacy of information delivered to the community and the provision of high quality, culturally sensitive referrals.
  • Displays sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomics characteristics.
  • Always performs work in a safe manner and abide by safety practices.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS
Required Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of community engagement experience.
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university; or five years of community engagement experience.
Preferred Experience: Fluent Bilingual Spanish/English.

  • Travel to and attend meetings throughout the counties in the Inland Empire.
  • Annually attend out of State or County conferences per contract requirements.
  • Speak publicly, give presentations, facilitate workshops, etc.
  • Work with diverse populations.
