The CDC Foundation is working with CDC and state and local authorities to provide surge staff to support surveillance, prevention, and response activities within the Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) program. The CDC Foundation seeks candidates for an Overdose Prevention Strategies Coordinator. The Overdose Prevention Strategies Coordinator will provide training and technical assistance to external partners engaged in prevention efforts. The Overdose Prevention Strategies Coordinator will work to assist in creating sustainability of overdose prevention programming.

This position is remote and is in Connecticut.

  • Salary: $66,000 - $76,000, plus benefits

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in public health, the social sciences, or a related field; a Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization and project management skills, managing multiple projects simultaneously with competing timelines
  • Demonstrated knowledge in overdose prevention, substance use disorder treatment, harm reduction, recovery, and/or drug policy
  • Experience providing in-person and remote technical assistance and support by providing tailored guidance and subject matter expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and within teams
  • Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse partners and stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Zoom

Responsibilities:

  • Promote overdose prevention services to enhance the health and well-being of individuals and communities and work to build sustainability of existing programming
  • Provide technical assistance and training to public and private organizations engaged in or interested in prevention activities, coordinating prevention efforts with existing prevention coalitions in the region
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders including community-based partners
  • Gather and disseminate information on prevention research and training opportunities
  • Develop and implement program monitoring and reporting tools
  • Attend internal and external meetings related to prevention initiatives
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in the prevention and response efforts to the overdose crisis

Special Notes:

  • This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and the Connecticut Department of Health in order to best support the Connecticut Department of Health in their public health programming.

The CDC Foundation requires all employees to be fully vaccinated* for COVID-19 as a condition of employment effective November 22, 2021. All offers of employment after that date are contingent upon proof of full-vaccination status as a part of the pre-employment process.

*Fully vaccinated is defined as follows: At least two weeks have passed since receipt of the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine, or the second dose of either the Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech two-dose vaccines.

This position requires the regular operation of a motor vehicle during the course and scope of employment as an essential function of the job. As such, Employees in this position must possess and maintain a valid driver's license in their state of residence, must self-report motor vehicle violations/convictions, and must provide proof of acceptable insurance coverage with mandatory minimum coverages as set forth within the Driver Safety Motor Vehicle Policy (“Policy”). All offers of employment and continued employment for this position are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications of this Policy.
