About the team.

Our Crisis Services division is a part of a statewide crisis initiative that provides resources for mental health, substance use or emotional crisis help, information and referrals. Our crisis services includes a Walk in Crisis Clinic that provides mental health assessments and referrals for individuals experiencing any self-defined crisis. We also operate a 24/7 16 bed adult Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) that provides inpatient mental health treatment as well as a 4 bed based adult respite program for individuals in crisis.


About the role.

The Milieu Counselor will provide general milieu management tasks such as observation of client behavior and progress towards treatment goals, being available to clients for one-on-one support as needed, and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of treatment and disposition plans.
  • Participate in crisis and behavior management/de-escalation interventions as needed, according to state regulations, training, and established best practices.
  • Develop and facilitate psycho-educational groups.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify personal strengths, unmet needs, and interventions that will support the client in regaining a sense of control.
  • Assist with intake and discharge procedures including: decontamination, documentation, inventory of client belongings, and orientation to the facility.
  • Conduct one-on-ones to ensure that the treatment team has a comprehensive understanding of the clients self-identified needs.
  • Provide trauma-informed interventions that minimize harm and restrictive measures and empower clients to share responsibility in their recovery plan.
  • Provide group and one-on-one education to clients based on the clients individual treatment plan and goals.
  • Maintain a safe therapeutic environment that emphasizes recovery, resilience and building a sense of community.
  • Assist or take a lead role in meal preparation for clients.
  • Maintain a clean unit.
  • Staff member will complete needed care coordination tasks for their assigned role.

About you.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with individuals experiencing a mental health crisis in a bed-based program setting and be a team player. Candidates will preferably have some experience working in the behavioral health field and/or are willing to learn crisis intervention techniques and strategies with individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis.


Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in human services field
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective problem solving skills.
  • Professional and timely communication assessing and describing client observations to applicable staff.
  • Ability to assess crisis situations and intervene appropriately.
  • Understanding and ability to work with differing behavioral health presentations.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Preferred: Bilingual.


Compensation, Benefits & Perks.

Starting Salary for this role (based on experience and company equity):

  • $16.70 - $17.92 hourly

Additional Compensation Opportunities:

  • Language Differential Pay (For Bilingual Candidates): 5% of base salary up to $3,000/year
