While our name may not be familiar to consumers, our products are key components of foods offered by many of the world’s best-known companies.Summary: This position is responsible for the set-up, operation, adjustment, and clean-up of packaging equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Reviews packaging work order and obtains correct product, packaging materials and equipment set-up.
- Inspects and cleans work area prior to beginning operation and at shift end.
- Inspects and adjusts equipment prior to beginning operation.
- Completes production reports documenting performance; enter transactions into RF equipment.
- Adjusts equipment during operation to ensure that quality and productivity standards are met.
- Dumps product into hopper for filling.
- Performs change-over by setting up auger, funnel, tubing and former for specific lines and/or product.
- Cleans and washes line and equipment.
- Load and set film or units for form fill machines.
- May manually pack units into cartons as required.
- May manually affix label cartons.
- May manually stack cartons on to pallets as required.
- May operate a forklift as required.
- Reports any product quality deviations or mechanical failures to the utility person or team captain.
- Cleans work area and equipment at end of shift.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and write in English. Can comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software; Inventory software; spreadsheet software and word processing software.
- Other skills and abilities:
- Has strong knowledge of packaging operations including machine operating background
- Must be able to lift minimum 50lb.
- Must be able to complete Packaging Operator Training annually or as needed per the Alsip Plant packaging Operator Training Check List F62-03 AP-BT
