This job is a civilian position and does not require military service (including commission and enlistment)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• You will apply paint or coating (lacquer, oil paints, enamel, semi-gloss, flat, latex, metal premiers, concrete paints) to complete painting projects.
• You will operate painting equipment (e.g., paint mixers, glass cutters, glass drill, glass sanders, chalking guns) for painting preparation.
• You will set up, adjust, and operate spray painting equipment or other power painting equipment (e.g., attached air compressors).
• You will report painting accidents, injuries, safety violations, or unsafe practices to a supervisor to maintain a safe work environment.
• You will mix and apply chemicals safely to prevent injury.

Must have experience in:

1) Using gloss, semi-gloss, and special paints, enamels, varnishes, stains, lacquers, and shellacs to ensure protection of surrounding areas.

2) Assuring proper adjustment of ladders and scaffolding.

3) Assuring proper maintenance of brushes and other equipment.

Requirements for all NAVFAC Southwest Positions:

- A US Citizen aged 18 or older at time of hire

- Males registered or exempt from Selective Service www.sss.gov

- Determined suitable for federal employment (process includes a background check and fingerprinting)

- New employees to the Department of the Navy will need to pass the E-Verify employment verification check.

Pay: $28.22 - $32.91 per hour
