Advantage Home Health and Hospice is currently seeking a Full-Time Palliative Care Administrative Assistant to join our vastly growing Palliative Care team in the Mechanicsburg, Pa Area!

The Palliative Care Administrative Assistant is responsible for coordinating and managing all day-to-day business affairs and other operational activities related to the administration of the palliative care department. The Palliative Care Administrative Assistant is responsible for the orderly scheduling of the Hospice & Palliative Care patient visit and staff scheduling. Receive and triage telephone calls related to Hospice & Palliative Care patient care scheduling and other department-related issues. Notifies staff and appropriate managers of changes to patient scheduling. Submits required reports to Hospice Managers for review. The Palliative Care Administrative Assistant is knowledgeable in all phases of Agency Hospice & Palliative Care policy and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately documents patient information and patient history.
  • Maintains insurance records on all patients and obtains timely re-authorizations for continued care when necessary.
  • Reviews social history with patient and updates records.
  • Provides follow up with patients at designated intervals via patient's preferred method (telephone, electronic, written) in accordance with provider instructions. Notifies patients of test results under the direction of provider in a timely manner.
  • Administers and accurately documents medications in accordance with policy and safe practice.
  • Documents accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) according to established standards and workflows.
  • Accurately performs clerical office functions and other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains working knowledge of regulatory and accrediting agencies’ standards (such as Joint Commission, IPRO Medicare/Medicaid) and the unique requirements of all reimbursement systems.
  • May require floating/travel between office locations.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including telephone technique.
  • Demonstrate problem solving and decision making abilities.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Experience in medical office practice or similar setting preferred.
  • Scheduling & Hospice Care experienced preferred.
